I’ve fallen a bit behind. As a peace offering, the above video is of Derek Holland doing the weather on a local news affiliate this past weekend. (There will be more awesome Holland Videos to come, trust me)
While I was out, the Rangers came to terms with their two remaining arbitration-eligible players, Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoli. Nellie got two years, $16 million, while the Dirtbag got a one-year, $9.4 million deal. Cruz’s signing buys out his final two years of arbitration eligibility, while Napoli’s signing ensures he will be on the roster for the upcoming season (which was never in doubt). In the case of Napoli both he and the organization have made it clear that they may work towards a longer-term deal in the near future to prevent Napoli from hitting the free agent market.
